1. Controller and scope
Wild Sanctuary operates wildsanctuary-rust.com, its community pages, forms, user area, store, support tools and associated Rust servers.
This policy applies to visitors, Steam-authenticated players, community members, purchasers, staff applicants, support ticket or ban appeal authors, and administrators or moderators.
2. Account and identification data
When you use the website or sign in with Steam, we may process data needed for identification, security and service operation:
- Steam ID, Steam display name, avatar, Steam profile URL and internal user identifier;
- roles, permissions, language preferences and login status;
- IP address, browser, device, operating system, login timestamps and technical logs;
- session data required to keep you signed in and protect your account;
- information you voluntarily add to your profile, such as bio, social links, nationality, spoken languages, profile image or visual customization.
3. Rust server and moderation data
To administer the Rust servers, maintain security and enforce community rules, we may process:
- Steam ID, nickname, server connection history, affected server and technical game activity;
- moderation logs, sanctions, bans, mutes, ban appeals and administrative decisions;
- in-game chat messages, reports, evidence, screenshots or attachments when you provide them;
- data useful to detect cheating, abuse, toxicity, spam or fraudulent use of the service;
- role or synchronization data between the website, Discord and servers when this feature is enabled;
- public server status data, player count, map, wipe, incidents and connection information;
- data from technical tools or APIs related to the servers, only as needed to display and administer the service.
4. Community data and published content
Community features may involve collecting and displaying content you voluntarily publish:
- Wild Community posts, replies, profile comments, likes, follows, @player mentions and related interactions;
- images or media attached to a post, comment, support ticket or request;
- social links on your profile, bio, profile preferences and accent color;
- publication date, edit date, author, avatar and public profile link;
- internal notifications linked to mentions, replies, likes, followers, tickets or system actions;
- moderation actions performed by the team when content is reported, removed or hidden.
Content published in public areas may be visible to other users. Do not publish sensitive personal information or anything you do not want to make public.
6. Internal and push notifications
If you enable notifications, we may store a browser subscription to send alerts related to your activity: mention, reply, like, new follower, support ticket, ban appeal or system message.
Push notifications rely on your browser consent. You can disable them from the website or your browser settings. Expired or invalid subscriptions may be deleted automatically.
7. Support, applications and ban appeals
When you open a support ticket, staff application or ban appeal, we collect the information you provide: Steam ID, affected server, category, explanation, messages, attachments and team replies.
This data is used to process your request, provide administrative follow-up, prevent abuse and keep moderation history. Some information is visible only to authorized staff.
8. Store and payments
At this time, no payment is processed directly on this website. If an external store or payment is offered, processing will be handled by the relevant third-party service and not directly by Wild Sanctuary.
Wild Sanctuary does not store full bank card data on this website. If a payment provider is added later, its identity and privacy policy will need to be specified.
9. Purposes and legal bases
Data is processed to provide the website, manage accounts, enable Steam login, display profiles, operate Rust servers, answer requests, manage the store, ensure security, moderate the community and comply with obligations.
Depending on the processing, the legal basis may be performance of the requested service, Wild Sanctuary’s legitimate interest in securing and administering its community, consent for push notifications or certain trackers, or a legal obligation for accounting and payment data.
10. Recipients and providers
Data may be accessed only by people and providers who need it:
- authorized Wild Sanctuary team members, administrators and moderators according to their permissions;
- hosting and technical services, which may include OVH for the website infrastructure;
- Steam for authentication and account identification;
- Discord when you use links, webhooks, notifications or Discord-related features;
- external services useful for website operation, which may include Steam, Discord, RustMaps and BattleMetrics depending on enabled integrations.
11. Retention periods
We keep data for a period proportionate to its purpose, unless a legal obligation, security need, dispute or legitimate request requires longer retention:
- sessions: session duration or until logout/expiry;
- language preference and cookie consent: up to 12 months or until deleted by the user;
- account, profile and community content: while the account or content remains active, unless deleted or moderated;
- support tickets, applications and ban appeals: as long as needed for processing, follow-up and abuse prevention;
- technical and security logs: limited duration needed for diagnostics, security and fraud prevention;
- sanctions and moderation: as long as needed to enforce rules, defend rights and secure the servers;
- payment and billing data: according to applicable legal and accounting retention periods.
12. Security
We apply reasonable measures to protect data: HTTPS, permission controls, form validation, limited admin access, useful logging, injection protection and separation between public and internal information. However, no system is completely infallible.
13. Your rights
Under the GDPR and French Data Protection Act, you may exercise the following rights where legal conditions are met:
- right of access to your data;
- right to rectification of inaccurate data;
- right to erasure within legal, security and moderation limits;
- right to restriction of processing;
- right to object where processing is based on legitimate interest;
- right to portability where applicable;
- right to withdraw consent for push notifications or trackers subject to consent.
14. Transfers outside the European Union
Some third-party services used or planned for website operation, including Steam, Discord, RustMaps, BattleMetrics or OVH hosting depending on their infrastructure, may process data outside the European Union. Where applicable, such transfers must rely on appropriate safeguards or the legal framework provided by the GDPR.
15. Minors
Wild Sanctuary is a community linked to the game Rust. Minors must comply with the rules applicable to their age, the game and the platforms used. If a parent or legal representative believes that a minor has improperly provided us with data, they may contact us to request verification or deletion.
